Qualifications:
  • Have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with Passenger and School Bus endorsement (or willing to obtain within 6 months from hire date).
  • Maintain a valid Alabama School Bus Driver Certificate.
  • Be physically capable of performing assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate unquestionable character.
  • Had good attendance and work record in previous employment.
  • Communicate effectively with others.
  • Self motivated
  • Capable of working independently and as a productive team member.
  • Work well under pressure.
  • Meet background clearance requirements.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • CUSTODIAL DUTIES:
  • Provide building upkeep to include sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
  • Replenish toiletries as needed.
  • Empty all office/shop, kitchen, breakroom, restroom trash cans as needed.
  • Keep floors in clean, presentable condition and good state of preservation.
  • Scrub, hose down, disinfect toilets, floor areas, drinking fountains, and clean all sanitary fixtures
  • GROUNDS KEEPING DUTIES:
  • Cut grass, weed-eat, etc.
  • Keep trash picked up in the shop parking lot and grounds.
  • GENERAL OFFICE DUTIES:
  • Assist in maintaining parts inventory.
  • Maintain and submit reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
  • MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES:
  • Serve as a substitute bus driver as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate student management and report student incidents to the proper authority.
  • Keep a professional appearance and perform duties in a manner that will promote good public relations.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters.
  • Demonstrate a cooperative attitude with all transportation personnel.
  • Show initiative in identifying problems and/or opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
  • Report potential problems, unusual events, or work irregularities to the transportation director or assistant director.
  • Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, state, and federal regulations.
  • Report absences and take leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
  • Be regular and punctual in attendance.
  • Ability to remain both drug and alcohol free in the workplace and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing according to CCBOE policy.
  • Attend a 4-hour State Department of Transportation recertification class annually.
  • Attend CCBOE professional development workshops/training.
  • Wash and maintain the outside of school buses.
  • Help swap out buses for service repairs
  • Possess physical strength, agility, stamina and ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to remove and return video hard drive and SD cards from buses.
  • Adjust daily or weekly schedule to respond to issues of transportation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Length of Contract/Terms:
240 Days / 8 Hours daily

As per Board salary schedule for this position
