 Qualifications:
 Duties/Responsibilities:High School Diploma or GEDMinimum of 21 years oldGraduate of the State Department of Education Pupil Transportation Bus School (12 hours)Possess and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License with a passenger and school bus endorsementPass state required physical examinationPhysically capable of performing assigned dutiesMeet background clearance requirementsSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable
 Length of Contract/Terms:Observe all traffic laws, safety regulations, policies, and procedures regarding school buses in accordance with Federal, State, and local government agencies, and the policies of the Calhoun County Board of Education.Demonstrate the ability to work with school age children.Keep a professional appearance and perform duties in a manner that will promote good public relations.Ability to remain both drug and alcohol free in the workplace and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing according to CCBOE policy.Be regular and punctual in attendance.Using the correct procedure, notify supervisors of absence or tardiness as soon as possible.Maintain appropriate student management and report student incidents to the appropriate supervisors.Cooperate with school administrators, Transportation Director(s), and parents to solve discipline problems.Conduct bus evacuation drills in accordance with approved procedure.Transport authorized passengers only.Follow the assigned time schedule and route.Release students at authorized stops only.Keep the assigned bus clean by daily sweeping and periodic washing.Maintain effective communication with supervisors through the use of devices provided by CCBOE.Perform complete daily pre-trip inspection as per State Department of Transportation guidelines.Perform required post-trip inspection of the bus at the end of each trip. If driving a bus other than the assigned bus, the driver is responsible for sweeping/cleaning the bus.Notify proper authority in case of mechanical failure and/or late arrival.Keep the bus properly fueled at all times.Report all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries immediately should they occur.Complete and submit all required reports and documentation in a timely manner.Attend a 4-hour State Department of Transportation recertification class annually.Attend CCBOE professional development workshops/training.Follow the procedure for monthly bus inspection.Maintain and implement the established rules and procedures for transportation.Maintain confidentiality of any school system business.Maintain proper and professional relationships with students, parents and other employees.Demonstrate responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.Other duties as assigned by school administrators and Transportation Director(s).
