PSAT
Pre-SAT test for 10th and 11th graders. This is a test to take prior to the SAT college entrance exam. It is also given to determine National Merit Scholars. The cost is $13.00. Given during October (Fall Break) at one school in our county.
Educational Talent Search
This program is hosted by Angela Walker fromGadsden State Community College at the Ayers Campus for any students in grades 6-12. Every one can participate. Listen for announcements within the next couple of weeks.
LINC ID
(Locate, Intervene, Network, Change, Independent, Decision)
LINC's mission is to support a climate of safety in Calhoun County through public awareness and by networking with existing resources to reinforce a drug-free lifestyle and other healthy behaviors among youth, and identify families of young people already involved in high-risk behaviors and initiate, provide, or refer for effective, research-based interventions geared toward reducing at-risk behaviorsLINC ID program is a celebration of youth leadership in our county. LINC ID provides incentives and positive peer support for drug free behaviors!
How It Works:
Students voluntarily sign a pledge to be drug and violence free
The students receive an ID card. The card can be used at over 100 local businessess for great incentive.
The students then voluntarily submit to random drug screens. All drug screens are confidential, only the child's parents are notified of the results.
Parent Project Program is a comprehensive, award-winning program designed to help families of strong willed and/or "out-of-control" children. Parent Project classes include three groups: a group for parents, a teen group, and a class for younger siblings. These classes are taught once a week for ten weeks. The class is free.
Career Fairs
This is for Senoirs only. It will held at JSU on September 26, 2008.
The Carrer Expo is for 8th graders. It is held each year in February at JSU.
Off-Campus Course Work

Students may apply for Correspondence or Dual Credit, Dual Enrollment by signing appropriate forms and gaining approval from the Board of Education for their Junior and/or Senior years.
Three Co-op programs are available for Juniors and/or Seniors:

Scholarships
Information is posted, announced, and given in writing to Seniors at least four times during the school year. A packet of information is also given to Seniors each September with post-secondary information.
