Teacher Introduction:
My name is Nurse Gwen. I have 23 years nursing experience. The 2015-2016 year will begin my 14th year at AES and I LOVE IT!!!
In the 2010-2011 school year I was honored by being nominated by AES for Calhoun County School Nurse of the Year. In that same year, I was also voted the Alabama LPN of the Year by the Association of School Nurses.
I am very thankful to work at AES. I love the children, the staff, love what I do and I get to use the gift that God has given me and get paid for it all at the same time! I want to make a difference in YOUR child!
I encourage you to visit this web site often for updates.
Stay healthy, stay active,and remember,
WASH YOUR HANDS!!!!! :)

Together we DO make a difference!
Stay Healthy!
Stay Safe!

Parents: If you get a letter or call from me regarding your child's immunization being expired, PLEASE get that taken care of in a timely manner. Understand, that your child WILL NOT be allowed to pick up their schedule (AES or AHS) or be allowed to attend school the 2015-2016 school year until the immunization is up-to-date.
New 6th graders are required to have a Tdap for entry in the 6th grade!

If in doubt, call me @ 256-741-4309

IT IS OUR GOAL TO PROVIDE A HEALTHY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT, AND WITH YOUR COOPERATION, WE CAN DO THAT. YOU CANNOT EDUCATE A CHILD WHO IS NOT HEALTHY.

PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF OTHERS AND DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL SICK.

WE WORK HARD AT SCHOOL TO KEEP THINGS CLEAN AND SANITIZED. WE ALSO TEACH THE STUDENTS ABOUT GERMS AND PREVENTION OF GERMS BY HANDWASHING. PLEASE SET AN EXAMPLE AT HOME AND WORK ON GERM PREVENTION.
TOGETHER WE CAN STAY HEALTHY AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

REMINDERS FOR THE 2015-2016 SCHOOL YEAR
* If your child needs medicine to be given at school, a physician form needs to be filled out. This form is in the Student Planner or the office has one that you may pick up.
NO MEDICINE WILL BE ACCEPTED WITHOUT A COMPLETED PHYSICIAN FORM!
This includes prescription and non-prescription medicines.
*THE PRESCRIPTION LABEL NEEDS TO MATCH THE PHYSICIAN FORM.
*A NEW PHYSICIAN FORM NEEDS TO BE FILLED OUT EACH SCHOOL YEAR!
*NO MEDICINE IS TO BE TRANSPORTED BY A STUDENT.
THE PARENT MUST BRING THE MEDICINE IN!

* Head Lice checks will be every other Friday starting on the first Friday of school. Refer to the Student Handbook regarding absence policy for lice.
REMEMBER: We have a "No Nit" Policy. That means that there cannot be any nits present in your child's hair. Which means, you must physically pull ALL nits out after proper lice killing treatment has been done. ALSO, you will need to bring the empty lice killing shampoo bottle in for proof of treatment.
Thanks!
