Distance Learning
ACCESS stands for Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, & Students Statewide.
Wellborn Elementary
Distance Education Lab
    ACCESS Provides:
  • access to advanced diploma courses
  • access to additional course offerings
  • access to advanced placement or dual enrollment courses
  • access to remediation and supplemental resources
  • existing resources and distance learning offerings
  • additional multimedia and technology tools for teachers
White Plains High school was selected as a pilot site for the Access Distance Learning Lab in December 2006. The lab is equipped with laptops for students and state of the art video conferencing equipment to connect to other schools in the state. The primary function of the lab is to share Alabama certified teachers with schools that do not have a certified teacher in a particular subject area. Weaver High, Wellborn High and Saks High Schools became an ACCESS site in the 07-08 school year.

UPDATE!
All seven high schools in the Calhoun County School System have a fully operational ACCESS distance Learning Lab. Many thanks to the Donald Stewart Foundation for their funding and assistance in providing a distance learning lab for Wellborn Elementary and Saks High school!
