Qualifications:
    Must have ONE of the following qualifications: (unless already in possession of ALSDE Certification)
  • Associate’s Degree in Building Science or in a related field
  • NCCER1 Electrician Level 1
  • NCCER2 Commercial Electrician
  • NCCER2 Industrial Electrician
  • NOCTI – Electrical Construction Technology
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Building Science or in a related area
  • Alabama Electrical Contractor’s License
  • NCCER1 Commercial Electrician
  • NCCER1 Industrial Electrician
  • Alabama Home Builder’s License
  • Alabama General Contractors License
  • NCCER2 HVAC Technician
  • NOCTI – HVAC Maintenance Technology (5937)
  • Alabama Board of Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractors License
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in HVAC or in a related area
  • NCCER1 HVAC Technician
  • Alabama General Contractors License
  • ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama Statutes and State Board of Education regulations
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to go through the necessary steps to obtain or hold an Alabama Teacher’s Certification
  • Complete the Career Technical Education Teacher Certification Program within the first two years of employment
  • Pass Workkeys Exam
  • Have in-field experience
  • Job requires significant physical activity, willingness to plan and supervise learning experiences in the classroom, outdoors, and/or at remote locations and /or as needed to provide the optimal learning experiences for participating students
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level industry standard Career and Technical Education Instruction
  • Facilitate Hands-on learning opportunities that create a simulated work place.
  • Facilitate Career and Technical Student Organization activities as a SkillsUSA advisor.
  • Facilitate ALSDE approved Career Readiness Indicator Certifications
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local business and industry partners
  • Assess student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and student outcome.
  • Plan class activities and lesson presentations that are age-appropriate for the class and meet the individual needs, interests and ability levels of all students.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and resolving learning problems.
  • Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education and other professional growth activities as required or assigned.
  • Communicate to students and parents (either in writing or verbally) the instructional expectations, student progress or lack of progress.
  • Ensure confidentiality of all students' records, grades, performance and all other related matters.
  • Participate in school-level planning, faculty meetings/committees and other school system groups.
  • Establish and maintain a professional level of rapport with other teachers, team leaders, department heads, district-level coordinators and/or program directors, and instructional support and service employees of the school district.
  • Model appropriate personal characteristics and work habits that are consistent with personal development goals established for students.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of Individualized Education Programs and student progress through the specified tracking program.
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans and lesson plans based on district and state courses of study in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of the student.
  • Establish and maintain proper and professional relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Complete and maintain Career Tech records and documentation
  • Attend Career Tech meetings, professional development activities, and functions
  • Sponsor Career Tech student organization
  • Establish effective rapport with students
  • Maintain a safe and clean learning environment
  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitude and knowledge needed to provide an educational foundation in public
  • Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, counselors, local members of the building construction industry, visitors, and other stakeholders within the program
  • Abide by the Alabama Educator Code of Ethics.
  • Be familiar with and follow Calhoun County Board of Education policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Length of Contract/Terms:
10 Months / 202 Days
