Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate Degree (OR) have completed a minimum of 48 semester hours at a regionally accredited institution of higher education (OR) have successfully completed the Alabama State Board of Education approved WorkKeys Test
  • Current computer skills required
  • Aptitude and skills for the work to be performed
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good attendance and work record
  • Valid Alabama Driver’s License
  • Demonstration and record of sound moral character
  • Meet background clearance requirements
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calhoun County Board of Education deems appropriate
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Implement practices and procedures established by the Library Media Specialist
  • In assigned responsibilities, respond to the needs and interests of students and teachers
  • Handle equipment and materials responsibly
  • Provide proper supervision of students
  • Assist the Library Media Specialist in providing a safe, positive and inviting environment
  • Prepare copy and enter data in current computer program
  • Process new materials and equipment
  • Work at the circulation desk as needed
  • Shelve books, magazines, and other materials
  • Mend damaged materials
  • Maintain equipment
  • Assist in inventory
  • Maintain inventory of supplies
  • Coordinate scheduling of technology equipment
  • Attend and participate in individual, school, and system professional development activities
  • Maintain a cooperative, working relationship with school staff, parents, and community members
  • Promote good public relations for the school system with the general public
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all school-related business
  • Be familiar with and follow Calhoun County Board of Education policies
  • Other duties as assigned
Length of Contract/Terms:
187 days / 7.5 hours per day
