| Summer Nutrition | 05/17/2013 |
Summer is coming soon and you may be thinking about what your child will do for meals while school is out. The good news is that Calhoun County Schools will provide meals to children during the summer as part of the USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). There are no income requirements and any child under the age of 18 may come to eat. The SFSP sites are listed below as well as the times for breakfast and lunch. Meals are served in the schools cafeteria. Its food that is in, while school is out. |

Alexandria Elementary received notification that they will receive a Lowes Home Improvement Warehouse grant for $5000. This grant will be used to build and plant vegetable gardens for each grade level at the school. Congratulations to Alexandria Elementary! |

The Ethics Commission has issued an advisory opinion on appropriate seasonal gifts for teachers under the Alabama Ethics Law. The law allows only for gifts of very small dollar value, such as cookies, fruit, ornaments, seasonal mugs, candy, CDs / books of nominal value, scarves, etc. Larger items such as hams, turkeys, or gift cards with specific monetary value are not permitted. A $70,000 grant has been awarded to Saks Middle School from Anniston Community Education Foundation for the Tools for Success Project. This is a two year grant that will be rewarded in two installments of $35,000. Congratulations to Saks Middle School! A previous grant was awarded to Saks Elementary School from Anniston Community Education Foundation which was used to fund the Kindergarten Waterford lab at Saks Elementary School.
