CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Becky Cox for receiving the April Employee of the Month for Calhoun County Schools. It only takes one word to describe Becky Cox. She is a SERVANT. She is available 24/7 to the families of the Calhoun County System. Becky always finds a way to meet the needs of every life that she touches; whether it is money to repair a car, medicine for a child, referrals to outside agencies, a place to sleep at night or even sometimes just a cup of coffee. Calhoun County School System is blessed to have Becky Cox as an employee!!!

Congratulations to Mrs. Harold Rainwater for receiving the March Employee of the Month award for Calhoun County Schools. Mr. Rainwater, commonly referred to as “PawPaw” is hardworking, dedicated, and positive. He serves to influence lives at White Plains Middle School on a daily basis. He mentors students, takes care of faculty and staff members, and somehow manages to keep the school exceptionally clean. He has a smile and a kind word to offer everyone he comes in contact with. Mr. Rainwater goes above and beyond the call of duty each and every day. White Plains Middle School is blessed to have Mr. Rainwater on staff.

Congratulations to Mrs. Candace Davis for receiving the February Employee of the Month award for Calhoun County Schools. Candace has been teaching Math at Alexandria High School for 17 year. She was a graduate from Alexandria High School and we are blessed that she chose to become an educator to give back to our students! Mrs. Davis is dedicated to providing her students with a solid foundation that will support them throughout their educational career as well as life experiences. Mrs. Davis teaches the whole child and uses her time in the classroom to reach all students. Mrs. Davis’s outstanding work ethic, dedication, and passion in the classroom shine bright daily. We are proud to have her at AHS. She truly makes it “Great to Be a Valley Cub!!”

Congratulations to Mr. Mike Holtman for receiving the January Employee of the Month award for Calhoun County Schools. Mike Holtman is a dependable worker that you can call on at any time. Over the years, he has done his best to fix whatever he is working on right the first time. If he comes across something that is not a work order, he will fix it or let someone else know of the problem so they can fix it. The safety of the children and teachers are ever important to him. Simply put, no one works harder for the school system than Mike Holtman.

Congratulations to Ms. Susie Nance for receiving the November Employee of the Month award for Calhoun County Schools. For over 2 1/2 decades Ms. Nance has worked without the expectation of compensation. She has worked out of her love for her alma mater and community. In return of her service as a volunteer we have received so much more as a school, community, and most importantly a people. Her smiles and endless willingness to help others around her is instrumental in inspiring our staff and students to give of ourselves to the betterment of our school, community, and of each other. Susie means as much to Walter Wellborn High School and the Wellborn community as does Walter Wellborn High School and community to her. Susie is a Walter Wellborn Panther who continuously and unselfishly gives of herself daily.

Congratulations to Mrs. Rosemary Haynes for receiving the October Employee of the Month award for Calhoun County Schools. Mrs. Haynes has served this school system for 35 years. Her career began at Saks Middle School where she worked as the school secretary for 20 years. She then transferred to secretary for the Central Office where she has been for 15 years. She is a dedicated, conscientious, and fun loving person! She performs her job with a servant's heart; always willing to go out of her way to help others! Mrs. Haynes is a valuable asset to Calhoun County Schools and is most deserving of this award!

Congratulations Mrs. Wendy Henson for receiving the September Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools. Mrs. Henson has served in Calhoun County Schools for 12 years. She has been the lunchroom supervisor at Alexandria High School for the past 4 years. Mrs. Henson has is extremely innovative and enthusiastic about her job. She is a devoted individual who is committed to excellence. Mrs. Henson is always willing to go above and beyond for the faculty and students at Alexandria High School. There is no doubt that Alexandria High School is a better school because of Mrs. Wendy Henson

Congratulations to Rhonda Smitherman for receiving the August Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools. Mrs. Smitherman has devoted 22 years to education in Calhoun County. She is a caring, understanding, loyal, dependable, enthusiastic, and devoted individual who is committed and is always willing to lend a helping hand in making Alexandria Elementary students strive for excellence in all areas. Not only is Mrs. Smitherman a tremendous asset for our students, but also a valuable resource for our parents and faculty. In addition to all of her school activities, she is actively engaged with the Alexandria Community and an advocate for all. The Valley is a better place because of Mrs. Rhonda Smitherman

Congratulations to Wayne Smart for receiving July Employee of the Month.

Mr. Smart has worked in the field of education for over 22 years with 21 years being at the Career Tech Center. He has worn many hats during his tenure and currently serves as the Director/Principal at the Career Tech Center as well as director of all career technical programs in the county school system. His expertise in the business and industry arena along with his unwavering passion and dedication to the education of all students is second to none. Mr. Smart is a true leader and has earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues, faculty, staff, and students.

Congratulations to Beverly Haynes for receiving June Employee of the Month.

Miss Beverly Haynes has been with the Calhoun County School System for 12 years. She was at Saks Elementary School for 7 years before transferring to her Alma Mater Ohatchee High School in 2006. She takes great pride in her job and feels that everyone should have a clean working environment. She is the type employee that gives 110% on all tasks no matter how big or small. Beverly continues to exemplify a great work ethic and a huge level of commitment to our school and community. Calhoun County is very fortunate to have her as one of our team.

Congratulations to Shirley Turner for receiving the May Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools.
Ms. Turner always works in a manner that brings honor to herself and to the Calhoun County School System. She is very attentive to the needs of the students that ride her bus and stays in touch with teachers and parents in order to meet their needs. She conducts herself in a professional manner when working with peers, school staff, and supervisors. The Calhoun County School System can count on her to provide the best possible environment and service to students. We are proud to have her as our employee of the Month.

Congratulations to Debbie Owen for receiving the April Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools. Debbie Owen was a valued employee of the Calhoun County Board of Education for 31 years, serving as secretary to several different people over the years (Superintendent; Deputy Superintendent; and most recently Board Attorney and Deputy Superintendent).

She is married to Gerald Owen and is the mother of 3 grown children. She has two granddaughters (Madison and Riley) both under the age of one. They were a big reason she retired at this time.

Congratulations to Gene Inglis for receiving the February Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools

Mr. Inglis, a graduate from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama, has completed his 39th year teaching and his 9th year as Director of Bands at Saks High School in Anniston, Alabama.

Gene is an active member of Music Educators National Conference; Alabama Music Educators Association; National Band Association; Phi Beta Mu Honorary Professional Music Fraternity; and Phi Mu Alpha Professional Music Fraternity. He has served in various leadership positions in these organizations over the past 39 years including the State Band Chair for Georgia Music Educators Association 2001-2003.

He is the past President of the Calhoun County Band Directors Association and current President of the Gray Echelon, JSU's Marching Southerners Alumni Association. Gene is married to the former Shenley Back of Gadsden, Alabama. They have three children, Tony, Allison Brown, & Gena Inglis Nix; and four grandchildren, Taylor and Emma Nix, T.J. Brown, and Claire Inglis.

Congratulations to Jeff Smith for receiving the February Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools. Mr. Smith continually exhibits leadership with our students on and off the field. In 2.5 years he has not only created a successful football team but he has molded young men into caring, hardworking, and self-giving members of the community. Jeff Smith is an instrumental part of Wellborn High School and community.

Congratulations to Lance Driskell for receiving the January Employee of the Month Award for Calhoun County Schools. Lance has been with the Calhoun County Technology Department for over 7 years currently serving as the Webmaster. He is very dedicated and self-motivated. He is commended by staff at all levels for his positive willing-to-help attitude which is a great contributor to his success. Lance performs tasks with a cheerful attitude and kind approach. He takes pride in his work and is diligent in getting the job done. Lance is a valuable asset for Calhoun County and we are privileged to have him as part of the Technology Department Team.

Krista Young has been teaching Health Science/Medical Preparation at the Calhoun County Career Technical Center since July 2008. Her generous spirit motivates the students in her classes to perform many hours of community service. She also motivates her students to learn as much as they can about a variety of opportunities in the medical profession. She is continually working to establish new clinical sites for her students. Mrs. Young is dedicated in helping her students succeed.

We are blessed that she chose to become an educator to give back to our students! Her attitude and work ethic are not only inspiring, but down right contagious to her students!

Mr. Calvin Thomas has worked in Calhoun County for over 29 years, all of which were at Walter Wellborn, his alma mater. Mr. Thomas has a tireless work ethic and he gives much attention to detail producing pride in our school among community, teachers and students. He has maintained a high level of care and maintenance without reproach for many years. Mr. Thomas is a huge contributor to the success at Walter Wellborn High School. Mrs. Forbus has a continuous kind, loving, and cheerful attitude towards everyone around her. She is a person who can certainly brighten ones day because she possesses such an encouraging spirit. She is very passionate in her work and she is always enthusiastic. She is student-centered, well organized and has such a positive energy about her while supporting, educating, and guiding students. She is always prepared to handle any situation. She is an advocate for our students and our teachers. Pam has been with Calhoun County for 14 years and now serves as a Reading Interventionist at Pleasant Valley Elementary. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother. Pam also serves at her church as a Children's Director. She offers a wealth of knowledge and experience. She is an inspiration and a great asset to Calhoun County.
