Position Tracking Num: 2017-21 Position: Automotive Service Technology Instructor Posting No. 2017-21 Location: Career Technical Center Expected Date of Employment: August 1, 2017 Qualifications: " Willingness to go through the necessary steps to obtain or hold an Alabama Teachers Certification o Complete the Career Technical Education Teacher Certification Program within the first two years of employment o Currently hold or willing to take and pass the occupational proficiency exam: § ASE Brakes (A5) § ASE Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6) § ASE Maintenance and Light Repair (G1) § ASE Suspension and Steering (A4) o Fingerprinting and background check by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI o Must pass the Alabama Educator Certification Assessment Program (AECAP) basic skills assessments in Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, and Writing " Work experience: o High School Diploma and 14,000 clock hours (7 years) verifiable infield work experience OR o Post-secondary career and technical program certificate in the building construction field and 10,000 clock hours (5 years) verifiable infield work experience OR o Associates degree in the building construction field and 6,000 clock hours (3 years) verifiable infield work experience OR o Bachelors degree or higher in the building construction field and 2,000 clock hours (1 year) verifiable infield work experience " Job requires significant physical activity, willingness to plan and supervise learning experiences in the classroom, outdoors, and/or at remote locations and /or as needed to provide the optimal learning experiences for participating students Duties: Job Goals: " Build upon and continually improve existing Automotive Service Technology Program " Complete and maintain Career Tech records and documentation " Attend Career Tech meetings, professional development activities, and functions " Sponsor Career Tech student organization " Establish classroom environments favorable to learning and personal growth " Establish effective rapport with students " Maintain a safe and clean learning environment " Develop an effective advisory council " Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide an educational foundation in public safety " Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, counselors, local members of the building construction industry, visitors, and other stakeholders within the program " Complete other jobs as assigned by the principal |
