Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)

Maximizing student engagement through the use of technology

Calhoun County Schools have been POWERING-UP with a mobile device learning initiative called Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) since January 2013. All Calhoun County schools allow students to bring mobile devices, smart phones, tablets, laptops, I-pads, and other acceptable technologies for use in the classrooms. The POWER-UP Site Schools received intensive project based training and support from i21Zone consultants and coaches. POWER-UP goals are to enhance student engagement, teach responsible digital citizenship, and increase student learning. This learning initiative is not about the mobile device but is about the student learning that can occur when these technology tools are utilized by our young people to accomplish academic tasks connected to real world learning.
